Barista: What would you like?”
Lindsey: “Oh, GOD. A latte.”
Barista: “I know; it’s hard.”
Lindsey: “I might still be drunk, I don’t know.”
Me: “Do you have any advice you’d like to offer?”
Malcolm: I’ve made so many mistakes I don’t feel qualified to offer advice.”
Me: “You and me and everyone I know. Is there one life lesson that you would like to pass on to others?”
Malcolm: “Stay out of radical political movements when you are young. They can screw up your life permanently.”
“How long have you guys been together?”
Ronnie: “Just today.”
“What was it that made you decide to get together?”
Ronnie: “Everything. She might be my wife.”
Ariel: His mind. Everything about his mind.”
“My favorite things are reading and earthworms.”
Glemon has lived in NYC since the age of 16.
“When did you becoming interested in birds?”
“I’ve loved birds ever since I was a child. I have always loved the sound of birds singing in the morning; their songs make me think of freedom.”
Glemon then proceeded to show me several pictures of birds he had on his phone and as he told me about them his face lit up and he couldn’t stop smiling.
Daniel is a bartender.
“Do you have any stories that stand out about any of your customers?
“Well, a customer found and gave me a puppy today; a super cute pit bull puppy. That’s why I’m out right now-I’m buying dog food.”
“Have you named the puppy yet?’
“I can’t name it yet. I have to post his picture and try to find the owner before I can say he’s mine.’
I really hope that Daniel gets to keep the puppy; he was clearly already in love and I could tell he would make a great puppy daddy.
