Chester talked to me about photography in a way that made me realize that he must be a photographer too. When I got home I discovered that not only is he a photographer, but he is a distinguished New York Times photographer and has exhibited in museums throughout the world; his work is absolutely stunning. I am so glad I didn’t know this at the time; I never would have been brave enough to get a shot. Thank you, Betsy and Chester, for keeping a new photographer on track.
Mario spoke little to no English. I asked him several questions and his response was always the same.
"How long have you lived in NY?"
"Mario!"
"Are you working now?"
"Mario!"
Until....
"How old are you?"
"25!!!"
Mario winked and burst out laughing.
